  • Living as a Blue Door Property Guardian in the UK offers a unique opportunity to occupy and care for vacant properties while enjoying cost-effective living arrangements. While the primary focus of guardianship is security and maintenance, it doesn't mean sacrificing style and comfort. In fact, with a bit of creativity and resourcefulness, property guardians can turn their abodes into stylish and welcoming homes. In this article, we'll explore home decor and offer valuable decorating tips tailored to the property guardianship lifestyle.

    Versatile Furnishings for Temporary Living:

Blue Door Property Guardianship comes with the understanding of temporary residence. Opt for versatile and modular furnishings that are easy to move and adapt to different spaces. Consider foldable furniture, stackable chairs, and modular shelving units that can be reconfigured as needed.

    Embrace Sustainable Decor:

Sustainable decor is not only trendy but also aligns with our ethos of responsible living. Explore second-hand stores, vintage markets, and upcycling projects to furnish your space. Not only does this contribute to a unique and eclectic style, but it also reduces the environmental impact of your decor choices.

    DIY Art and Personal Touches:

Injecting your personality into your living space is crucial. Engage in simple do-it-yourself projects to create custom art pieces, decorative items, or even furniture. This personal touch not only adds character to your home but also allows you to express your creativity.

    Functional Storage Solutions:

Maximising storage is essential in smaller living spaces. Invest in furniture with built-in storage, such as ottomans or beds with drawers. Utilise vertical space with wall-mounted shelves and hooks to keep clutter at bay. An organised home feels more spacious and welcoming.

    Temporary Wall Decor:

Blue Door Property Guardians may have restrictions on making permanent changes to the property depending on each contract. Consider temporary wall decor options like removable wallpaper, decals, or art hung on adhesive hooks. These allow you to personalise your space without jeopardising your guardian agreement.

    Adaptable Lighting:

Lighting can significantly impact the ambiance of a space. Invest in versatile lighting options such as floor lamps, table lamps, and string lights. Adjustable and portable lighting fixtures provide the flexibility to change the mood of different areas within your home.

    Indoor Plants for Fresh Vibes:

Bring the outdoors inside by incorporating indoor plants. Not only do they add a touch of nature to your space, but they also contribute to improved air quality. Choose low-maintenance plants that thrive indoors, such as snake plants, pothos, or succulents.

    Community Decor Projects:

If you're part of one of our Blue Door Property Guardian communities, consider collaborative decor projects. Work together to create communal spaces that reflect the diverse styles and preferences of the guardians. This fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility for the living environment.

Living as a Blue Door Property Guardian in the UK doesn't mean compromising on style and comfort. By embracing creativity, resourcefulness, and a dash of DIY spirit, you can transform your home into a unique and inviting space. These decorating tips not only enhance your living experience but also contribute to a sense of community among property guardians. So, get inspired, express yourself, and make the most of your guardian home!

  • Blue Door has created a unique way for individuals and organisations to contribute to their communities by revitalising and re-purposing unused properties. By doing so, guardianship properties can provide a range of benefits to local communities, from creating affordable housing to improving the quality of life and diversity of neighbourhoods.

    Re-purposing Unused Properties

One of the primary benefits of guardianship properties is their ability to create affordable housing options for individuals and families in need. In some cases, properties are located in neighbourhoods that may be experiencing economic hardship, and as a result, there may be a lack of affordable housing options available. On the other hand, we have properties in desirable areas and these are popular. By re-purposing unused properties we provide a much-needed service to local residents, while also contributing to the revitalisation of these neighbourhoods.

    Quality of Life

Another benefit of guardianship properties is their potential to improve the quality of life in local communities. By repurposing unused properties, this can help to address issues such as squatting and crime that may be affecting the area. In addition, the presence of well-maintained guardianship properties can help to attract new businesses and residents to the neighbourhood, contributing to a more vibrant, cohesive and thriving community.

    Revitalisation

Blue Door offers a unique opportunity for individuals and organisations to contribute to their communities in a meaningful way. By repurposing unused properties, this can create affordable housing options, improve the quality of life in local neighbourhoods and help to revitalise struggling communities. Whether as a guardian or a property owner, there are many ways to get involved and make a positive impact in your community.

  • Guardianship properties have become increasingly popular in recent years as a way to lower the cost of living for individuals who may not be able to afford traditional rental or ownership costs. Here we will discuss the lower living costs we offer at Blue Door Property Guardians and how we can benefit people in need of amazing, affordable housing.

    What are Guardianship properties?

Blue Door have a range of properties that are vacant or not in use, and are made available for individuals to occupy. Property guardians are individuals who live in the properties providing security and maintenance services in exchange for low-cost accommodation. Property guardians have certain responsibilities, such as keeping the property clean and tidy, and ensuring that it is secure.

Lower living costs of Blue Door Guardianship properties

Blue Door offer a much lower cost of living compared to traditional rental costs or home ownership. For many people who are struggling to make ends meet, this can make all the difference in terms of being able to afford basic living expenses such as food, utilities, and transportation. Licences (rent) in guardianship properties are typically significantly lower than market rental costs, and can include bills and utilities.

    Increased Savings

In addition to lower rent costs, living in a guardianship property also allows individuals to save money for deposits, holidays, projects, etc, etc. For example, many guardianship properties are located in urban areas where transportation costs can be very high. By living in a guardianship property, individuals can save money on transportation costs by living closer to work or public transportation.

    Affordable Housing Option

Guardianship properties provide a valuable affordable housing option for individuals who may not be able to afford traditional rental or ownership costs. With lower living costs, a sense of community, the opportunity to learn new skills, and a sense of purpose and responsibility, guardianship properties offer a range of benefits for those in need of affordable housing.

As the demand for affordable housing continues to grow, guardianship properties provide a practical and sustainable solution that benefits both property owners and individuals in need of affordable accommodation.
